Gatunek o niedostatecznie poznanym rozmieszczeniu, znany dotychczas z nielicznych stanowisk w środkowej Europie. Przez niektórych badaczy uważany za odmianę Bledius (Hesperophilus) opacus (Block), dlatego też wiadomości o jego występowaniu są bardzo skąpe. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, notowany tylko z kilku rozproszonych stanowisk. Warunki ekologiczne słabo poznane, poławiany przeważnie na pobrzeżach dużych rzek.
