Gatunek zamieszkujący Europę (prócz północnej Fennoskandii), Azję Mniejszą, Afrykę Północną i Wyspy Kanaryjskie. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, notowany z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju. Spotykany na roślinach z rodziny złożonych, zwłaszcza na rumiankach — Matricaria L. i piołunie — Artemisia absinthium L.
