Gatunek o subborealno-alpejskim typie rozsiedlenia, obejmujący zasięgiem północną część Obszaru Palearktycznego, od Fennoskandii po Japonię i Wyspy Kurylskie, ponadto zasiedlający Alpy, Karpaty i góry Azji Środkowej. Między tymi obszarami występują oderwane stanowiska z roślinnością torfowiskową. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, znany tylko z siedmiu krain. Prawdopodobnie liczniejsze jego stanowiska znajdują się w północno-wschodniej części kraju. Owady łowione były na bagnistych łąkach i torfowiskach. Roślina żywicielska nie jest znana.
