Ośrodkiem rozmieszczenia omawianego gatunku są kraje śródziemnomorskie, a w miarę posuwania się na północ aż do części południowej środkowej Europy coraz rzadziej, sporadycznie i lokalnie spotykany. W Polsce chrząszcz bardzo rzadki, znany tylko z trzech stanowisk. Występuje przeważnie nad brzegami wód zarówno na terenach nizinnych, jak i w niższych położeniach górskich.
