Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w południowej i środkowej części Europy, notowany również z południowej prowincji Szwecji. W Polsce znany z nielicznych, przeważnie pojedynczych stanowisk w siedmiu krainach, przy czym z pięciu na podstawie znalezisk sprzed przeszło stu lat, dlatego też rozmieszczenie omawianego gatunku w naszym kraju wymaga dalszych badań. Jako roślina żywicielska jest podawany wilczomlecz błotny — Euphorbia lucida Wald. et Kit.
