Rzadko spotykany na terenach górzystych aż do strefy subalpejskiej. Pewne jego stanowiska leżą w Alpach Bawarskich, w Austrii, południowym Tyrolu i Jugosławii. W Polsce z całą pewnością nie stwierdzony; według A. Horiona (1961) omyłkowo notowany przez niektórych autorów z Sudetów, Beskidów i Karpat, a dane o występowaniu na tych obszarach odnoszą się do O. (C.) blandula Brancsik. Znajdowany w przegrzybiałych pniach i pieńkach drzew liściastych, w leżących na ziemi gałęziach, pod opadłym listowiem i wśród mchów na starych drzewach.
