Obszar rozsiedlenia tego chrząszcza obejmuje zachodnią, środkową i południową część Europy, wykazywany też z północno-zachodniej Afryki oraz z Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce notowany dotychczas z nielicznych stanowisk tylko w południowej części kraju. Gatunek monofagiczny, żerujący na rezedzie żółtawej — Reseda luteola L.
