Gatunek górski, obejmujący zasięgiem Karpaty i część obszarów górzystych na Półwyspie Bałkańskim. W Polsce jest chrząszczem rzadkim, notowanym z nielicznych stanowisk w czterech krainach południowych. Spotykany od maja do lipca. Jako roślinę żywicielską piśmiennictwo podaje młode buki.
